In Loving Memory of Dr, Claire Shaw

 Dr. Claire E. Shaw
December 18, 1949-June 29, 2026

Claire was married to Wendy's dear sister Michelle and was a part of our family for the last 15 years.

Claire was a beloved dentist in New Hope, PA for many years and built a thriving practice based on excellent service, humor and love for her patients. She collected friends like other people collect knick-knacks and it was not possible to walk down the streets of New Hope without meeting someone who just had to stop and talk to Claire. She will be missed by so many.

Upon hearing that Chris' favorite movie was "The Princess Bride" Claire gave him a hard time for choosing such a girly movie as his favorite. Obviously, she had never seen the movie. But, we all had a good laugh. Upon her death, I reflected on this anecdote and realized that while Claire never did see "The Princess Bride" she epitomized the story. She was Wesley to her beautiful wife, Michelle, her princess. Anything that Michelle wanted, Claire would do for her and if she did not say, "As you wish" in so many words, she showed this in her actions.

In addition to dentistry, Claire had many interests and hobbies. She was Captain of the New Hope Fire Police  for many years and donated generously so the town could purchase updated equipment to fight fires. She also served on the Board of the Fire Company for many years, both as treasurer and then as president. In addition, she served on the New Hope Borough Council for 12 years, two of them as president. What an example of civic leadership.

Prior to becoming a dentist, Claire served in the US Navy, and worked off and on as a DJ. She enjoyed sharing  these skills at many events, including weddings and fundraisers. She even curated a playlist that she put on thumb drives to give out at her own retirement party. Claire was one of the most generous people I ever knew, helping others, especially family members. If you were a member of Claire's family by birth or by choice, you would never go without. Claire would make sure of that.

She died too young as she had so many more things she wanted to do. She will be remembered with love by multitudes. May she Rest in Peace.

And she sure could rock that kilt.

Family was everything to Claire

When you meet the love of your life, you know it is right!
